Message to the Black Community

by Brandon Tatum

I want to talk to African American people for a second. I’m sick of the victim mentality rhetoric that’s being pushed from the Left and the Democratic Party. It’s not valid and it’s destroying young Black men. I used to be one of those people until I went to college and I learned something. Things were revealed to me and I realized that I had been lied to and been deceived for a long time.

The Democratic Party wants African Americans to continuously be victims. They love to glorify victimhood. They love to glorify the places in history where Black people were victims and they ONLY glorify those places. They only want Blacks to think that they’ve been oppressed since the 50’s.

They don’t want to tell you that the first Black judge was in the late 1700’s. His name is Wentworth Cheswell. Look him up. The first Black millionaire was a female – Madam C. J. Walker – in the late 1800’s. Being a millionaire back then is like being a billionaire now. They don’t want you to know that George Washington Carver – who was one of the greatest scientists ever – in the late 1800’s. They don’t want you to know about Booker T. Washington who worked in the White House in the early 1900’s.

Black people have been free since the late 1700’s in the north. There were the same amount of free states as there were slave states. Everybody talks about Harriet Tubman and the underground railroad. She wasn’t taking people to la-la-land; she was taking people to the north where Black people could be free to have their own businesses. There was still probably some level of discrimination but they had opportunities.

They want to talk to you about the slaves but they don’t talk to you about the people who helped Harriet Tubman along the route north. She had to stop at different houses along the way to keep Black people protected and give them food and water on their journey. Those are white people that helped them. What about those people?!?!

These people who want to keep you divided don’t want you to know about that. They don’t want to celebrate the white people who helped Harriet Tubman in the underground railroad. They were just as responsible for the success of the underground railroad as Harriet Tubman. She was brave enough to put her life on the line and they were brave enough to put their life on the line. I think they were just as important. They don’t want you to know your history.

I took African American studies in college. They don’t want you to know that stuff because they want you to feel like you’re a victim. Drinking out of the water fountain was a southern thing. They didn’t have that problem in the north. Segregation was at a better state in the north than it was in the south. But they only want you to remember the segregation in the south. They want you to remember the riots in the south. They don’t want to talk to you about the north.

Lebron James wanted to bring up Emmett Till which is absolutely ridiculous. Emmett Till was killed for no reason, tortured, brutalized and his mom had an open casket so the whole world could see what was happening in the south. He wouldn’t have gotten killed in the north. He was from the north. He came to visit his uncle in the south and ended up getting killed by some racists. They got off and then confessed after they got off that they did it. So Lebron wanted to bring that up and equate it with someone spray painting his $30 million dollar home.

It makes me frustrated that the Democratic Party wants to make African Americans victims. We are not victims anymore. We are victors. Are there situations of discrimination in this country? Yes! Is it going to stop you from achieving goals? No! In the 1700’s it didn’t stop us from being judges; late 1800’s it didn’t stop us from being millionaires and scientists or going to schools.

You do your history and look up the historical Black colleges. We have been able to be successful for a very long time. People working in the White House in the 1800’s and African American. Don’t let these people deceive you. There are racist people in this world, yes. It can’t stop you from being successful. A person can drop any word on you all they want but they can’t do nothing to you. You can still go to whatever school you want to. You can still get an education. They can’t stop you from studying. They can’t stop you from working hard and becoming what you wanna be.

They can’t stop people like Ben Carson. They want you to hate people like Ben Carson or like me. They want you to hate African American people who have decided that we’re not going to be the victims anymore and we’re not going to make excuses and point a finger at people. We’re going to start doing introspection or not doing inspection at all. They want you to hate us because we are going to destroy their agenda.

If Black people are successful and Black people have equal rights there will be no Democratic Party. If you don’t have to play the victim anymore there is no Democratic Party and they know that so they want you to be the victim. Some of you are going to watch this and think I’m a sellout. Listen to what I’m saying, do you research, and find out the truth because the truth is the only thing that is truly going to set you free.

Our forefathers would be rolling in their graves hearing that we’re still pointing the finger at the white man, calling each other the N-word, or saying that we don’t have the opportunities that they died for us to have. They’d be rolling in their graves when they see us not voting after they died for us to vote or if they saw our lack of pursuit of excellence. If they saw us killing each other, robbing each other, putting each other down, hating on each other, they’d be rolling in their graves.

Rolling in their graves to see us reference them out of context. When you reference Martin Luther King but you forget the fact that he said he wanted people to be judged by their character and not the color of their skin but we still point a finger at the color of their skin. These people that I mentioned – George Washington Carver, Booker T. Washington, Harriet Tubman, Madam C.J. Walker – these people would be rolling in their graves if they saw what we were doing to each other. If they saw that we got on TV and said that Black on Black crime is in the mid-90%, white on white crime is in the 80%’s.

There’s a problem here that we don’t want to address. We have to stop living as victims and start living as victors. Know your history and know the past so that you can know where you’re going. Look at George Washington Carver – don’t let nobody tell you that you can’t be a scientist, that you can’t change the world because somebody is holding you back. It doesn’t work like that. Let’s overcome these things and realize that there is racism that occurs but it has no power over you. People call you the N-word and it doesn’t have power anymore. I want us to realize that.

We’ve gotta change and realize that we’ve gotta work together. We’ve been working together in the past. Not every white person was a slave owner. How do you think we made it this far? Not only Black people fought in the Civil War.
